Home Depot Pro Xtra Discounts: 2026 Guide for Contractors

The Home Depot Pro Xtra service offers various tools and discounts. Learn how to maximize these program benefits and save your business additional money.

Guy looking at home depot products inside home depot

If your business spends real money at Home Depot, the Pro Xtra rewards program is probably the easiest savings lever you are not pulling hard enough. It is free to join, the discounts compound the more you spend, and Home Depot offers a long list of perks that most contractors still have not fully tapped. Here is how the program works and how to squeeze the most out of it.

What Is Home Depot Pro Xtra?

Pro Xtra is Home Depot's free loyalty program built specifically for contractors, property managers, and other professionals who buy materials, tools, and supplies in volume. Members get access to volume pricing, paint discounts, business tools, exclusive financing options, and a growing set of digital project-management features.

The program uses a three-tier structure based on annual spending at Home Depot:

  • Member (free, no minimum spend). Access to the basics: Pro Xtra Perks points, paint rewards, volume pricing on qualifying purchases, purchase tracking, the Pro digital workspace, and member-only mobile coupons.
  • Elite ($25,000 in annual qualifying spend). Everything in Member, plus an Elite Support Line for prioritized help, automatic Bronze-tier paint rewards (10% off paint, primers, and solvents), and exclusive support through live chat and text.
  • VIP ($250,000 in annual qualifying spend). Everything in Elite, plus account management with a dedicated rep, automatic Gold-tier paint rewards (20% off), VIP experiences, and preferred pricing.

Once you reach a tier, you keep that status for the rest of the current year and the entire following year, so your spend in heavy quarters carries forward.

How to Create a Pro Xtra Account

You do not need to be a licensed contractor to sign up. Anyone whose business buys at Home Depot regularly can enroll. Sign-up is free and takes a few minutes through the Pro Xtra website or in person at any Pro Desk. You will need:

  • Email address
  • Full name
  • Company name
  • Company address
  • Phone number
  • Your business or trade type

Paint Rewards Tiers

Paint Rewards is its own ladder inside Pro Xtra, and the discounts get aggressive once you ramp up qualifying paint, primer, and solvent spending. Here is how the tiers stack up:

  • Member: $0 annual spend, 0% discount
  • Bronze: $1,000 annual spend, 10% off paint, primers, and solvents
  • Silver: $3,500 annual spend, 15% off paint, primers, and solvents
  • Gold: $6,500 annual spend, 20% off paint, primers, and solvents

If you are a painting contractor or run a remodeling crew that spec's a lot of finishes, getting to Gold pays for itself fast. And remember: Elite-tier Pro Xtra members automatically get Bronze paint status, and VIP members automatically get Gold.

Volume Pricing for Big Materials

The Volume Pricing Program (VPP) is where the real money lives for builders, framers, and remodelers. Once your qualifying spend hits $1,500 on eligible categories, you unlock contractor-level pricing on all of them. Eligible categories include:

  • Lumber
  • Fencing
  • Decking
  • Drywall
  • Windows
  • Insulation

You can mix and match across categories to hit the threshold, so $700 in drywall plus $800 in lumber qualifies you for volume pricing on both. Bring your project list to the Pro Desk and a Pro associate will work the prices for you. There are over 4,000 bulk-eligible products in total, so most repeat-purchase contractors qualify quickly. Full details are on Home Depot's Volume Pricing Program and bulk pricing pages.

AI Lists and Live Delivery Tracking

Home Depot offers two big features for Pro Xtra members that meaningfully change how field service businesses run jobs.

Material List Builder AI

The AI tool builds a complete materials list from a project description, a spreadsheet, an uploaded document, or one of Home Depot's job templates. Type something like “rough plumbing for a 2,200 sq ft slab on grade with three bathrooms” and the tool generates a quotable list in seconds. The AI is integrated with Project Planning so you can move from rough idea to actual order without rebuilding the list manually.

Real-Time GPS Delivery Tracking

Big and bulky deliveries (concrete, drywall, lumber) ship with minute-by-minute GPS tracking. Pros see the truck route, remaining stops, and live ETA on the Home Depot mobile app and on homedepot.com. The feature is powered by Home Depot's Driver Handheld application, and it is the kind of thing that turns “where is my drywall” phone calls into a non-issue.

Both features are part of the unified Pro digital workspace, which is free for every Pro Xtra member at every tier.

Free Tools for Every Pro Xtra Member

  • Pro Xtra Workbench. See where you are spending, on what, and at which stores. Filter by job, department, store, or item.
  • Purchase tracking. Two years of receipts organized by job, location, PO, or date. End-of-year tax prep gets a lot easier.
  • Reloadable Pro Xtra gift cards. Set a spending limit and hand them to crew members so the right purchases land on the right job.
  • Pro Xtra Virtual ID. Identify yourself as a Pro at checkout (in person or online) so Pro pricing applies automatically.
  • Text2Confirm. Approve crew purchases by text from wherever you are.
  • Key Tag. Tracks qualifying cash, gift card, or store credit purchases toward your tier and rewards.

Pro Credit Options

Pro Xtra members can layer credit on top of the rewards program through Home Depot's Credit Center. Two options matter most for contractors:

  • Commercial Revolving Charge. Earns Pro Xtra Perks 4x faster (every $1 spent counts as $4 toward Perks), supports authorized employee user cards, offers monthly payment flexibility, and includes automatic Pro Xtra membership.
  • Commercial Account. Pay-in-full each month with itemized invoicing and per-employee buyer ID cards with set spending limits. Better for businesses that already manage cash flow tightly and want clean invoicing.

Pro Xtra members also get special financing on purchases of $299 or more.

Trade Organization Perks

If your business belongs to a national trade organization (NAA, IEC, USC, NREIA, NARI, and others), you can stack member perks on top of Pro Xtra: cash-back rebates, competitive product pricing, e-procurement integration, and a dedicated national support team.

Other Day-to-Day Savings

  • Pro Special Buy of the Week. A rotating set of member-only weekly deals. Worth checking before any big purchase.
  • Free shipping over $45 on millions of items, plus 2-day delivery on a wide selection of in-demand SKUs (delivery details here).
  • Free standard appliance delivery on appliance orders over $396, with scheduled delivery windows.
  • Tool and equipment rental through Home Depot's rental program, including trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment.
  • Order ahead and pick up in store, so your trip is in and out instead of wandering aisles.
  • Price matching plus 10% against most competitor prices.
  • Reserved Pro parking near the contractor entrance.
  • Dedicated checkout lanes at most stores.
  • Mobile coupons via the Home Depot app, plus a $5 sign-up coupon when you opt in to text alerts.
  • Overstock pricing on online and in-store overstock items.

Pro Xtra vs. MyLowe's Pro Rewards

If you are weighing where to consolidate your spend, Lowe's runs a competing program called MyLowe's Pro Rewards. It also has three tiers:

  • Gold Pro (default at signup, no minimum)
  • Platinum Pro ($10,000 to $24,999 in annual spend, or instantly if you have a Lowe's Pro credit card)
  • Titanium Pro (top tier, unlocked at higher annual spend)

MyLowe's Pro Rewards earns points starting from your first dollar, with bigger point multipliers and more coupons at higher tiers. Pro Xtra and MyLowe's Pro Rewards solve roughly the same problem in different ways. The right answer is usually whichever store is closest to your job sites, and the obvious move for any business with real volume is to enroll in both. They are both free.

The Bottom Line

If your business is buying paint, lumber, drywall, or fixtures regularly, Pro Xtra pays for itself the day you sign up. The Member/Elite/VIP tier structure rewards consolidation, the AI and delivery tools save real time, and the paint and volume programs deliver discounts you cannot get at the register without the membership.
